I have installed Silverlight, the very newest, most up-to-date version, roughly 11 times. I have uninstalled Silverlight and then reinstalled it, and have done this three times. This is really irritating.
Microsoft Silverlight For Mac Not Working
When you use Google Chrome (version 42.0 or later) to access a website that runs Microsoft Silverlight, you see that some content is missing or that the Install Microsoft Silverlight badge is displayed. When you reinstall Silverlight, the issue still occurs.
Note This issue does not occur in Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Apple Safari. These browsers still support Silverlight content.

Cause
This issue occurs because these versions of Chrome block Netscape Plugin API (NPAPI) plugins from being displayed in the browser. Silverlight is an NPAPI plugin.
Workaround
On Chrome version 45 or a later version of Chrome, there is no workaround for this issue. You must use a browser that supports Silverlight content to access a Silverlight page.
To work around this issue on versions 42 to 44 of Chrome, follow these steps:
On the address bar in Chrome, type chrome://flags/#enable-npapi.
In the Enable NPAPI Mac, Windows box, click Enable.
Exit and then restart Chrome.
Reopen the Silverlight page.
Right-click the broken puzzle piece image, and then select Run this Plugin.

Visit the third-party Web site that you were having problems with as is mentioned in the 'Symptoms' section.
If the problem is resolved, you are finished.
If the problem still occurs, go to step 2.
Step 2: Create a new Mac user
To create a new Mac user, follow these steps:
Open System Preferences.
Open Account.
In the lower-left part of the New Account window, expand the plus sign (+).
Type Test in the User name box. Leave the Password box blank.
Click to select the Allow User to Administer this computer check box.
Click Create Account.
Log off from your original account, and then log on to the Test account.
Visit the following Web site, and then click Showcase:

If the problem is resolved when you are logged on as the new user, contact Apple Technical Support to determine why you cannot use Silverlight 2 for Mac when you are logged on by using your original user account.
If the problem still occurs when you are logged on as the new user, go to step 3.
